Ok, yeah so I did this for my Art History class. We had to create a piece of art in the style of the artist we were researching. I chose Titian, he was a great portrait artist(among other things) and ocassionally painted Italian women. Cristina Scabbia is an Italian woman who just happens to be the frontwoman of Lacuna Coil. I thought it'd be perfect. Doing a portrait (sorta) of an Italian woman using broad brushstrokes(most of the time) and with a red dress thingy (Titian's trademark color). Long story short, my teacher didn't see a connection and talked to me condescendingly about the piece for the entire class to watch. Mrs. Rufino...for the record...FUCK YOU!
Anyway...here it is. I can upload the .PSD file if anyone wants it. But it's big(for dial-uppers, poor saps...I was once one), like 20 MB.
Not perfect but I've already merged the last psd file and saved it, so I won't be fixing it. See if you can find something I missed. There's a prize in it for you!
Well I'd just like to take a moment to say fuck you to your teacher too lol.. They dont always know what theyre talking about..
I think you've done a pretty good job overall , I like it , especially her eyes and the colours you have used.
Since you asked for advanced critique , I think there are just a couple of areas that could be improved upon , and a few finishing touches added, like to the fingernails and toenails..
The girls nose is a out of line with her lips , and the brush strokes around the top of her nose in between her eyes makes her look a bit swollen maybe.. Continuing the highlight you used on the bottom part of the nose may have help a little there... without seeing the reference pic it's hard to say exactly , but I think the colouring on her left leg is a bit dark in areas , kinda looks bruised around the ankle..
Wow, thanks for cursing my teacher. Nobodys ever done that before. Also thanks for the tips. People never do that. I said I wasn't gonna fix it...but now...now that you've mentioned those things I just might. Thanks for being so honest.
I love it all. The pose is awesome, and I really like the red. Especially contrasted with the green. It's rare that you see that done so well without it feeling christmas-y.
I'd offer critique, but well it's already been done... and since you're 8 million time better than I am/ever will be, lol... there's not much I could say.
Oh yeah, and those damn high school art teachers eh? Though they aren't all bad, the one I had for 3 of my 4 years of high school was pretty good.
Hey thanks for the fav. You're much too kind. You're right about the christmas colors too, never even crossed my mind. And I'm not 8 million times better than you, I'm sure you could do i too. Once you get really aquainted with Photoshop. Well yeah, maybe High School art teachers are fine but this was my college Art History teacher and she really pissed me off that day. I don't think she likes me anymore. Oh well. Everyone can't be a fan of yours. Thanks again.
You'd think that a college art teacher would understand that the way each person looks at art of art is different... but some people just don't get it.
And you're right, everyone can't be a fan of your art. As long as you enjoy what you do, and you're a fan of your art, that's all that matters.
A few other people seemed to like it but my teacher was being stupid. There were people with pieces that were less than half assed that she didnt say nothing to. It just pissed me off. But screw her. I'll just try to get through her class and avoid her for the next 2 years.
ok....? Fucker Rufino needs her face beat into the open end of a jar with a baseballbat as a salted meat grinder chews up her "stupid-in-human-form" of a body ....and so does everyone else who ever speaks badly about this picture.. :: Pets it::
